Wanting bbq on the road, we ignored the negative reviews. BIG mistake! VERY GREASEY! We ordered 2 sandwiches and 1 side of onion rings - we got 5 smallish rings for $3.00. Plenty of standard fast food restaurants to chose from nearby - wish we had chosen one of them.

Absolutely loved it. Driving from TN via St. Louis and Kansas City, I did want some BBQ as soon as I get to my destination before hitting the final destination. Cox BBQ has two locations, one in Junction City and the other in Manhattan. My friend and I went to get some lunch. He had the big memphis q-deal with chicken, brisket and fries, I had smoke stack platter with brisket, pork, mac and jack cheese and sweet potato fries. What I loved about this place is that they do not mix the meat with sauces. You can try out 5 different kinds of sauce, and pick the one you like. And the sweet potato fries were excellent. Mac and Jack cheese was creamy and delicious as well. Staff were really friendly and courteous. I will definitely come back here if I ever go through Junction City again.

This is my second time to Junction City and also to Cox BBQ. My first experience here was good and decided to try a second time. My second visit was definitely not as good. I went here for dinner and ordered the two meat plate; ribs, brisket, baked beans and pineapple coleslaw. The ribs and brisket were pretty dry; surely not the best I have ever tasted. I added some of their original bbq sauce which enhanced the flavor. The sides were good. I was pleasantly surprised with the pineapple coleslaw. I almost didn't get it because of the pineapple, but it turned out to be very tasty. The service was good and the staff was friendly. I am not sure if I will visit again.

Tasty moist BBQ meats. Several different sauces to fit your taste buds. Sweet potato or regular fries. Yummy, creamy mac & cheese. Good portions. Super clean and great customer service.

Pleasantly surprised. Stopped here on the way home from St. Louis to Denver. Looking for lunch but didn't want greasy fast food, so we thought we would try this BBQ place. We shared a 2 meat platter with brisket and pulled pork, seasoned French fries and baked beans. The meat was awesome. Liked the fries and the sauces. I thought the beans were okay - just a different flavor than I was expecting, but my husband liked them. The staff was super friendly and nice - their manager should be proud.

Moving here from Texas, I was looking for some good BBQ!! Cox has it. Prices are a little high, but not too bad for the excellent food you get. Staff was great and food was AMAZING!! This will be my BBQ spot while I'm here in Kansas for the next few years.

Pricey like most bbq places (why do they need to be?) but it is good. Today I had the pulled turkey. Staff seem like they are caring about the customer.

I really wanted to like this place, since it would be a nice change from all the burger places. This was a take out order and my husband said they were extremely friendly and helpful, which they must have been for him to notice. We both ordered the Pulled Pork platter. It was a good portion, but it had an overly smokey flavor and the sauces werent that great. He had fries for his side and said there were good. I have the potato salad and the macaroni and cheese. The potato salad was mild, but good. The mac n cheese was horrible. It was gummy, pastey and just old. Overall it was very disappointing and over priced.

I love Cox Brothers. I go in there at least a couple times a month. The prices are wonderful and my absolute favorite right now is the smoked brisket sandwich where the meet is chopped up very well. Lots of flavor and tender. I love using the Texas barbecue sauce with it. Oh and I forgot I also love their mac & jack cheese. So good. Very casual, you wait for your food and pick up when ready. Fill your own drinks, etc. Which I like because I don't care for waiting for a waitress to give me a refill or pick up dirty trays. Just my preference. Anyway, if you love barbecue, you must stop by sometime. I recommend to everyone I meet.

Over priced and under portioned. The Brisket seemed like it was boiled. The pork Burnt Ends were terrible as well.

I love good BBQ, and even do my own. This place is bad! My wife had the pulled pork and it was very dry. Have never had dry pulled pork. I had the brisket and sausage. The brisket was also very dry. The sausage was just ok. Maybe I am a BBQ snob, but I will never, ever, go back to this place.

Excellent service!! My sister had this restaurant cater her wedding (May '12). The owner of the store hand delivered the food and drinks to the dinner location. He stayed through dinner and walked around picking up our trash as well. The barbecue is great. Best in the city. Junction City would do well to encourage more of these excellent food establishments.

Today I went to the JC Cox Brothers location for lunch and was blown away by their new menu choices! The classics offered have always been delicious but now they are even more items to select from. New salad items, new sandwiches, sides and more! I love this place, I walk in and the owner himself (Bud) is stocking the condiment bar. Later, Bud came by and personally checked in with each table to ensure everything was up to his high standards. We noticed a few changes to how they take orders, they bring you the food now and clear your plates. But it is Fantastic! These guys are surprisingly true traditionalist when it comes to not just BBQ but to customer service as well. Great food and experience! As far as the prices, have you seen the prices of meat today? Overall everywhere meat is high priced so don't come here if you want a cheap quality meal, because the meat they use is not cruddy 85/15 burger meat, it's the real deal!
